IDIL BIRET: THE PORTRAIT OF A CHILD PRODIGY

In the year 1948, the Turkish Congress passed a special law for a seven-year old musical prodigy in order to support her education in the Paris Conservatory. Using archival footage and the new intimate record of the artist’s life in Paris, Brussels and Istanbul, this 52-minute documentary presents the inner journey of a woman. Director Eytan Ipeker has been awarded for his shorts at festivals in Greece, Italy and Turkey. An experimental video of his was screened at 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
